| Last year's Christmas storage |
Part of loving all things related to organization is to always be on the lookout for better storage supplies. For many years I have stored my Christmas decor in clear tubs with labels. I like my method of storage, I'm just not satisfied with the organization of my storage.
Last year I discovered Pinterest and was on fire to create all sorts of beautiful Christmas decor with the ornaments I already own. The biggest obstacle to accomplishing this task was my Christmas storage organization. I was using tubs with cardboard inserts to store most of my ornaments. If I wanted an ornament that was on the bottom layer, I had to unpack the entire tub to get to it. This immediately led to me giving up on some of my projects.
Last year I packed the ornaments from each tree in its own container. This worked out well, but this year as I took the trees down I realized that I want to change up some of the themes for next year. I want to have a clean slate so as to not get stuck in the rut of decorating each tree in exactly the same way year after year.
So I changed things up. I packed all of my littlest ornaments in one tub, the medium sized ornies in another, and the largest sized in the tubs with the cardboard inserts. As usual the Santas are packed together, the Nativities are packed together, and the miscellaneous ornaments are packed together.
Just so I wouldn't forget to remember, I jotted notes in my Christmas planner of some ideas for changing the tree themes for next year. I also made a list of decor that I need to purchase for next year so that I'll be ready when Hobby Lobby puts their Christmas stock out in June!
How do you store your Christmas decor? Do you have a tried and true method or are you on the search for just the right organizational tools?
