When I was a kid I saw the original "Yours, Mine, and Ours" starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. It's the true story of a Navy officer with ten kids marrying a Navy widow with eight kids. They went on in real life to have a couple of kids together. One of the scenes in the movie is Christmas morning when all 18 stockings are hung at the fireplace. I decided right there and then that I wanted my Christmas to look like that.
So to that end, I have made stockings for each person in my immediate family. There are 15 of us now, soon to be 16 in January. I make two stockings per person, one to hang at my house and one to hang at there house. I also made one stocking each for my brother and SIL.
This year my task was to stitch five stockings - one each for my nephew, his wife, and daughter, and two for my newest grandchild, Snow. I almost met my goal, but fell short in only completing one stocking for Snow.
Today I'm sharing the stockings for my nephews family, and in a few days I'll show you the whole lot for my house.
It takes me about three months on average to stitch a stocking. I love doing it! And as you know if you're a crafter, when I'm making something for someone each stitch is accompanied by a thought or prayer for that person. That's the best part.
