The (almost) Twelve Days of Christmas: C H R Ideas

Two years ago we hosted a family Christmas Party at our new home. The idea was to play games, sing carols, eat appetizers/desserts, and participate in a White Elephant Gift Exchange. It was fun, but to be honest, kind of awkward. Maybe because it was the first one.

This past Christmas we tried again. This time was way more successful. I think it's because the games we played were more active participation instead of passive participation. After the party was over I rushed on to Pinterest to find ideas for games to play at our 2015 party. The trick is to find games that are appropriate for ages 4-83! Here's a few that look promising:

Gift Exchange game - gifts are passed to the left and right as you read this short story. When the story ends, that's the gift you keep. Christmas games.
This game is designed for the White Elephant Exchange. As you read the story the gifts get passed to the right or the left as directed.

Christmas Carol Game - Start by telling everyone the song and then read the “clue” line. The first person to respond by signing the correct answer (the next line of the song) gets one point. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins!
This game looks like a great game for teams of two. That way the little kids that can't write yet can participate in supplying the correct answer. The goal is to provide the next words after the clue. Fun!

Roll-a-snowman game... First one to roll all six and draw a snowman wins. Great game for the kids to play.
This game is on my list for this year's party for sure. It's appropriate for the little kids and I think the adults would enjoy it too.

Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt
If your party includes a trip to look at Christmas lights, this would be fun!
