Six Weeks Prior:
- Prepare guest list
- Create menu
- Make grocery list of ingredients needed
Five Weeks Prior:
- Begin grocery shopping
- Prepare linens needed for dinner
- Prepare china/crystal/silver for dinner (if applicable)
Four Weeks Prior:
- Issue invitations (by mail/email/phone calls/text)
- If hosting a potluck style dinner, be prepared to assign dishes to participating guests
- Determine place settings
- Create place cards
- Create centerpieces
Two Weeks Prior:
- Turkeys should be on sale this week: purchase turkey and place in freezer
- Gather recipes needed for dinner, confirm ingredients needed are on hand
Week of Thanksgiving:
- Clean house
- Set table; cover with dust covers
- Set out serving dishes with notes denoting what menu item they will hold
- Defrost turkey and other meats in refrigerator
- Bake or purchase pies and desserts
we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving here (mostly it's a 3-day weekend) but I love your celebrations.
